Man City ace Bernardo Silva reveals he knew Kylian Mbappe was ‘different’ after his first Monaco training session at the age of 16
BERNARDO SILVA has revealed that he has known Kylian Mbappe has been “different” since his very first training session in Monaco.
The Frenchman joined his older teammates to train for the first time at just 16 years old.
While most aspiring youngsters may have felt intimidated by their new starry surroundings, Mbappe adopted him like a duck in the water.
Explaining the instant impact of the World Cup winner, Manchester City and former Monaco star Silva said: So Kylian when he arrived, when he arrived in the first team for the first training sessions, he had 16 years old.
“I remember after the first or second practice session he had with us I remember going to (Joao) Moutinho and we both were like ‘wow, who is this kid? “
“He was really special, because you could tell from the start that it was different.
“And he wasn’t afraid to come over to us, come over to the older guys and dribble a couple of guys in the practice session.
“Normally when you’re 16 you’re a little scared of the big guys, and he goes after defenders and kills them.
“So yeah, then after two years he started playing with us more often and now he’s one of the best players in the world.”
The duo have teamed up to help Monaco to an incredible period of success.
Inspired by Silva and a teenager Mbappe, the Monegasques won a shock title in Ligue 1.
They also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, before their squad was torn apart at the end of the season.
After 27 goals in 60 appearances for Monaco, Mbappe moved to Paris Saint-Germain.
Now 23, he could soon leave, having made no secret of his desire to join Real Madrid.
Silva, meanwhile, joined Man City that summer, where he thrived.
The Portuguese, 27, was recently called “the best player in the Premier League” by boss Pep Guardiola.
