Bernardo Silva was one of the most talked about footballers for much of the recently concluded summer transfer window as Barcelona fought hard to secure his services from Manchester City.
However, as the club’s hands were tied financially, they were unable to move enough pieces in time to complete the deal and the Portugal international ended up staying at the Etihad Stadium, despite dreaming of a move. at Spotify Camp Nou for much of the summer.
But, while the ship could have sailed this year, according to SPORTBarcelona haven’t given up on their pursuit of Silva and will return for the midfielder in the summer of 2023.
Indeed, although they have spent a lot to train their team this summer, the Blaugrana believes Silva is the missing piece of the puzzle and would lift the team to another level if he arrived.
Therefore, the Catalan heavyweights will once again try to land the former AS Monaco ace in 2023.
Manchester City, for their part, have always been reluctant to let go of Silva, who thrived under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola. However, the Premier League champions are unlikely to stand in the way of the player if he makes it clear he wants to leave.
But, as they did last summer, the Citizens could again demand a transfer fee of around €100m for their midfielder.
With Pedri and Gavi shining, Franck Kessie on board and Frenkie de Jong also available, adding that Silva would take the quality of Barcelona’s midfield department to stratospheric levels.
However, it could also lead to question marks over the future of de Jong, whom Barcelona were eager to sell last summer itself.
For now, however, what is clear is that Silva still remains on the radars of the Blaugrana and another attempt will be made to sign him next year.
